結婚式に行ってきました！
At 54 years old, hardly anyone around me is getting married, so I have not been to a wedding in a very long time. But, last weekend, one of my best friend’s SON got married so we got to go to a wedding! Our whole family was invited and it was Joe and Zach’s first ever time to go to a wedding. It was a very cool Texas style wedding in Bryan, TX (because both the bride and groom both went to Texas A&M) at a beautiful venue called The Weinberg at Wixon Valley. The grounds had a vineyard like in Fredericksburg and on site was both the wedding chapel and a huge building that housed the wedding reception. About 250 people attended and it was so much fun! The ceremony was special, with the young couple writing their own vows, and the groom dipping the bride on the way down the aisle after they were pronounced husband and wife. Then on to the reception, where the couple did their first dance and a big steak dinner was served. Speeches were made by the couple’s friends, then a dance with the bride and her father, followed by a dance with the groom and his mom. Following all that, the DJ took over and all the guests danced and celebrated until it was time to send off the newlyweds. Everyone lined the sidewalk with sparklers (just like a movie), and the bride and groom walked through and into their decorated car and drove off. The next morning there was a casual brunch as we wished the new couple a happy honeymoon. They are off to ICELAND! Congratulations to the Foltyn Family and your first son Jared + his new wife Vanessa!
54歳にもなると、周りで結婚する人もほとんどいなくなり、結婚式に出席する機会もすっかりなくなっていました。そんな中、先週末、親友の息子さんがご結婚され、ご招待いただいて家族みんなで結婚式に参加してきました！実は、息子の丈とザックにとっては人生初の結婚式。会場は、新郎新婦ともにTexas A&M大学の卒業生ということもあり、テキサス州Bryanにある「The Weinberg at Wixon Valley」という素敵な会場で行われました。Fredericksburgのようなブドウ畑が広がる美しい敷地には、チャペルと大きな披露宴会場が併設されており、とてもテキサスらしい雰囲気でした。当日は約250名が出席し、とても温かく、楽しい結婚式でした。新郎新婦はお互いに手作りの誓いの言葉（Vows）を読み上げ、夫婦となることを宣言された後には、新郎が新婦を抱きかかえてキスをする映画のような演出もあり、会場は大盛り上がりでした。披露宴では、新郎新婦によるファーストダンスから始まり、美味しいステーキディナーが振る舞われました。その後はご友人によるスピーチ、新婦とお父様のダンス、新郎とお母様のダンスと、アメリカならではの心温まるプログラムが続きました。最後はDJが登場し、ゲスト全員でダンスを楽しみながらお祝いムードは最高潮に。お見送りでは、ゲスト全員がスパークラー（手持ち花火）を持って花道を作り、新郎新婦はその中を歩いて装飾された車に乗り込み、新婚旅行へと旅立っていきました。まるで映画のワンシーンのような、とても素敵なフィナーレでした。翌朝はカジュアルなブランチで新郎新婦を見送り、いよいよハネムーンへ。行き先はなんとアイスランド！きっと忘れられない新婚旅行になることでしょう。Jaredさん、Vanessaさん、ご結婚おめでとうございます！そして、ご家族の皆様にも心よりお祝い申し上げます。末永くお幸せに！
